Kolomna Fortress

The Kolomna Kremlin is one of the largest and most powerful kremlins from the 16th century, yielding in size only to Moscow’s and with just as rich of a history. Dmitry Donskoy’s royal court was located inside of the Kolomna Kremlin, and it was there where he married his wife, Yevdokia Suzdal. The kremlin was also home to the episcopacy and, according to legend, it was in the kremlin’s Marinkina Tower that Marina Mniszech was imprisoned. Nowadays the tower hosts an exhibition devoted to a Polish impostor, and is also home to the Svyatagor Museum of the Centre of Military Culture, where visitors are invited to try on the armour Russian soldiers wore, try their hand at a bow and arrow and learn about the history of Russian weapons.
