Historical and Architectural Ensemble of the Moscow Kremlin

Moscow was recorded for the first time in the Hypatian Codex, where it is said that on Saturday, 4th of April 1147, the Prince Yuri I Dolgorukiy received his friends and allies in a little city of Moscov. Moscow used to be an estate on the border of Princes' properties and the Kremlin was a wooden fortress around it in the form of irregular triangle. It used to be totally surrounded by water. The southern side of fortress was erected along Moscow River. The northwestern one was built on the bank of the Neglinnaya River. The rivers were joined with an artificial defensive ditch separating eastern side of the Kremlin from the Red Square. In the beginning of the 18th century a special underground riverbed was constructed and the defensive ditch was filled up. The length of the Kremlin wall is almost two kilometers, it's the longest extant fortress in Europe. Learn the past history and get today overview of the Moscow Kremlin and the Red Square in the RTG TV film together with Irina Petrova.
