The Roofs of St.Petersburg

Three centuries ago Peter the Great chose a plain marshland in the mouth of the river Neva to found a new capital of Russia. It was he, who drew and approved architectural plans. Later the decree, which forbade to build constructions higher than a cornice of the Winter Palace was, was issued. This was a way the appearance of the classical Saint-Petersburg was composed, a city of a geometrical layout and no more than four or five-storey houses. This is a city which is interesting to view from above. The presenter of RTG TV has even addressed herself to the Academy of Arts to get to know which modern observation decks it's better to ascend. And she started with the roof of the very Academy of Arts. Together with Eugenia Altfeld you will view Saint-Petersburg from the colonnade of the Isakievsky Monastery and the bell tower of the Smolny Cathedral, from one of the famous rostral columns and the roof of Victor Tikhomirov's workshop.
