Russian orthodox easter cuisine — the Kulich cake

The Easter feast in Orthodox Christianity has always been unique in its elegance and dignity and rightfully so as Easter is the happiest day of the year – the day which symbolises the victory of life over death. People begin to prepare culinary treats ahead of time, starting on Clean Monday. Blessed, coloured eggs, paskha (a dish made from cottage cheese) and kulich (a sweet Easter bread) can be found on all Easter tables. Easter kulich, a favourite holiday treat, is also a ceremonial bread that carries a deep religious meaning.
