The museum of the history of religion. Archaic beliefs

The State Museum of the History of Religion opened its doors in St. Petersburg more than 80 years ago. Nowadays one of its exhibitions helps to acquaint visitors with religious ideas that appeared during the Paleolithic and Neolithic Ages and that have continued to exist throughout the history of mankind. The exhibits and artifacts on display say a lot about the traditional beliefs of the peoples from Siberia, North America, Oceania and North Africa. It is thanks to these items that modern people have the chance to immerse themselves in the past and discover many of the secrets that have been buried by the mists of time. RTG TV host Alexander Uvarov got to learn about some of the old beliefs, customs, cultures and traditions that many indigenous peoples continue to practise today, as well as see some of their rather unusual ritual objects.
