Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, is a modern, dynamic megapolis on the coast of the Caspian Sea. Nowadays the city is rapidly changing its appearance, combining Eastern elegance with European comfort. Baku meets guests with great hospitality, broad prospects, the constant hum of cars, fresh sea air and the friendly local smiles. RTG host Igor Maximenko travelled there to check out the capital of Azerbaijan with his own eyes and to see just how the city is growing and developing. While there he assessed modern Baku’s bold architectural projects and visited Icheri-Shekher-the old quarters of the city, which are surrounded by a fortress wall. It is with this wall that Baku’s history really started.
