The Mozhaisk Reservoir was built in the middle of the 20th century as a major hydro facility on the Moskva River. Its intended purpose was to serve as a reserve source of water for the capital of Russia, but for many years it’s been renowned among fishermen. Pikeperch, pike, asp, perch, broach, eel, bream, silver bream, roach, chub, bleak, ide, burbot and carp can be found in this ecologically clean water body. You might think that you just have to castyour line and success is guaranteed. There’s a special kind of fisherman at the Mozhaisk Reservoir – they catch fish using the “catch-it-and-let-it go” principle, in order not to damage the fragile ecological system of this young water body.
