Gas Pipeline to the Yamal Peninsula

The Yamal Peninsula has recently gained the title of the storehouse of Russian natural gas. Several years ago, people began to focus on the industrial development of the deposits, whose reserves are considered to be the largest in the world. The «Blue Fuel» from the depths of the Earth is harvested under severe northern conditions. The permafrost, cold climate and remoteness from civilization make what the geologists, construction workers and gas workers do there truly heroic. Trunk pipelines and gas-compressor stations are set up in order to transport the gas. The area’s first «gas line» is already set to be put into operation. It connects the Bovanenkovskoye deposit with the city of Ukhta. RTG TV host Igor Maximenko went to find out just how Yamal gas gets from its deposit into our homes.
