Grey Shchi Valdayi Style

It's easy enough to prepare this dish, even there's no need to chop meat and potato finely. The secret of right Shchi is the only one ingredient cabbage hash. You should pick up the lowest green cabbage leaves and leaven them in a special way. Thus the most delicious Shchi ever can be cooked. By the way such a dish is called daily one for it becomes tastier when it draws for a while. Grey Shchi* Valday Style recipe serves 2 persons; preparation time ~ 15 minutes; cooking time ~ 1,5 hour Ingredients: 1 potato, 1 onion, 1 carrot, 4-5 tablespoon grey sauerkraut (hash), pinch of salt, black pepper (peas), 1 tablespoon vegetable oil. Directions: Put cut potato into boiling water and cook until readiness. Pour some vegetable oil into a pan and roast carrot, onion, and add hash at the end, stew without covering. Mash potato right in a pan, salt, add stir-fry, black pepper (peas), bay leaf and boil on medium fire until sauerkraut softens (approximately for an hour), then turn off the fire, cover tightly and leave to stew for 3 hours. Leave in a cool place for 24 hours. Next day warm it up, add spice greenery and garlic, sour cream. * Shchi is a Russian soup with cabbage as the primary ingredient.
