Vologda Oblast is among those Russian territories that possess a special historical heritage. This region is glorified as Northern Thebaid comparing it to ancient Egypt territory, a famous place of inhabitance of early Christian monk-hermits. RTG TV presenter Timofei Zudin visited monasteries of Vologda region: the Kirillo-Belozersky, the Ferapontov convent and Spaso-Prilutsky where one can not only learn history of Russian monasticism but to feel how rich spiritual and cultural heritage of Russia is.
