The tradition of railway tours in Russia originates in the beginning of the 20th century. During resort seasons special trains ran from Petersburg and Moscow to Europe, for the well-to-do Russians went to take the waters in Germany and Austria, visit mountains in Switzerland and Italy and beaches of France. Today railway tourism is revives, and it's Russia that has played an important role in it. Several itineraries were created in Russia for those who like to travel by train. For example, the Circum-Baikal Railway is used only for tourism purposes. In the nearest future railway tours around Golden Ring will be launched running from Moscow to Novgorod, and a special express will run from Russia's capital to Beijing. Presenter Igor Maximenko visited Italian city of Merano where Russian and European businessmen discussed mutual efforts on organization of railway tours during the international conference.
