Rafting on the Rivers of the Altai Region

When white water rafting down mountain rivers, rafters get a hefty dose of adrenaline as they willingly face off with the elements. When they’re not worrying about what might splash up in front of them, they also get the chance to enjoy the nature that is all around. Devoted rafters are particularly attracted to places that are difficult to get to - and therefore are incredibly well- preserved and untouched. Altai is such a place – an ancient land of stunning mountains located at the intersection of four countries: Russia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan and China. Altai is often called “the River Kingdom” as it is home to about 20,000 of them, all varying in category and class. Host Andrey Ivanov gave two Altaic rivers a whirl: The Katun and the Charysh.
