Kazan is one of the largest cities in Russia and the administrative centre of the Republic of Tatarstan. It’s hometo about 30 state museums and a host of historic monuments, the majority of which are under UNESCO protection. In this film, viewers will see the main sites of the old town: the Kazan Kreml or Fortress and its Blagoveshensky Cathedral, the imposing Kul Sharif Mosque, and the “leaning” tower of Suyumbike, the Kazan Bogoroditsky Monastery, on the territory of which in 1579 the icon of the Kazan Holy Mother was created – one of the key Russian Orthodox relics. Viewers will also go on a walk through the streets and parks of Kazan, ending their tour with a visit to the Tartar Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet.
