The city famous to all Russian downhill skiers and alpinists is located among arctic mountain ridges. However, charming beauty of the Extreme North attracts to Kirovsk not only sportsmen but usual travellers. White ranges of hills stretch till the horizon. The city is on the sunny side of one hundred years, but its history is full of dramatic and interesting pages. The world's largest deposit of precious mineral apatite has brought fame to Kirovsk in an industrial sector, while the Polar botanic garden in a scientific industry.
