April is the best month in which to open the fishing season. It is at this time of year in Astrakhan Oblast that fishermen set out in hopes of landing an important catch — pike perch and catfish — both Volga River predators. Russian Travel Guide presenter Stanislav Salnikov took part in such a fishing trip in order to see for himself just where and how to find these scaled creatures. In the end it was all worth it as he returned home with a trophy anyone would be proud to hold.
