Tsarskoye Selo. Catherine Palace

The residence was represented for the first time in summer 1745 by Elizabeth, daughter of Peter the Great. It was projected by an Italian architect Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli. From thereon Tsarskoe Selo became a heart of court and political life of Russia.  Three great women have been reigning there for three centuries. And each of them has decorated and  equipped the palace to one's taste. Catherine I, born Marta Helena Skowrońska, preferred simplicity and thoroughness. Her daughter Elizabeth famous for her beauty and versatility erected the luxurious golden palace with the help of great Italian architect Rastrelli. And Catherine II added  spirit of classicism to architecture, decoration and facilities.  In this film you will not only view the interior of Tsarkoe Selo Palace, but will get to know a secret of the Great Hall's 32 multiple echo.
