In the south of Russia, where the warmers seasons last for over half the year and the summer is hot and dry, it's difficult to imagine a city without fountains. They're capable of transforming almost any space, whether it's a park, a square, a dacha plot, a mall or a restaurant. The city oasis that we see, however, is just the tip of the iceberg — a small portion of the entire construction. A fountain is in fact a complex hydro-technical construction. The main bulk of the communications and servicing lines are hidden underground. This film investigates the construction and workings of modern fountains.
