Lake Ladoga is the largest freshwater lake in Europe with its surface covering a total of almost 18,000 square kilometres. Here the weather is extremely changeable and the climate severe. Nevertheless, it is to this body of water that fishermen from St. Petersburg and the northern capital’s surrounding areas come to fish all year round. The beginning of April is still considered the winter fishing season.
